With the 2024-25 cricket season well under way, the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Matthews AM and Darren Tucker to the ACA Board.
Christina is stepping onto the ACA Board to fill a casual vacancy after more than twenty years in administration, including most recently as CEO of WA Cricket, and will provide a strong connection to cricket in the West. As a record holding past player with a passion for growing the game, having Christina join the ACA board is a significant win for players and cricket.
“I’m very happy to be joining the ACA board. I have had a lifetime in cricket as a player, and administrator and I’ve always been really keen on ensuring the Players are well looked after,” said Christina.
“My role on the board will be a culmination of a life’s work as a player and administrator. In my non-cricket roles as a Board Director, I bring strong governance understanding to the ACA board and a strong empathy and understanding of what players need.”
Darren, former domestic cricketer for NSW and current Vice President of New Balance Asia Pacific Middle East, Africa and India will bring a wealth of knowledge from his almost thirty years with the New Balance brand. Having served as a member of the ACA’s Commercial Committee since February 2023, Daren will join the ACA Board as an Appointed Director.
“I’m excited to be joining the board of the ACA. They do important work in representing the interests of both our current and former players”, Darren said.
“I bring a life-long love and commitment to cricket and look forward to working with the Players and all stakeholders to grow the sport in the future”.
With Elected Director Pat Cummins stepping down due to an increase in his other commitments, Pat is thanked for his service to the ACA to date. Most recently as Elected Director for five years while juggling his playing, captaincy, travel and family commitments.
Rachael Haynes will also be stepping down when her tenure expires at the 2024 AGM in November. We thank Rachael for her three years as Elected Director while managing playing, work and family commitments.
ACA Chairman Greg Dyer shares in the enthusiasm for the Boards newest members. He said “We are delighted to welcome both Christina and Darren to the ACA board. They both bring significant expertise and experience along with a genuine love of the game”.
