ACA Chief Executive Alistair Nicholson said Harris had a great impact on Australian cricket.
"Ryan Harris achieved far more in his career than even his impressive statistics reveal," he said.
"Beyond a huge level of skill, he showed what was possible by sheer force of will. He did this both within games with his big-hearted performances, and in his career generally, as a player who worked tirelessly to debut for Australia at the age of 30. That he's achieved so much in the five years since speaks volumes for his character.
"Ryan has set a terrific example to his peers and I congratulate him on his career on behalf of his fellow members, along with the staff and Executive of the ACA."
Graham Manou, ACA Manager of Membership and Operations, also paid tribute to Harris.
"It was a great privilege to play alongside Ryano at club level for Northern Districts and at state level for South Australia," he said.
"He epitomised everything you want in a teammate: he was skilful, aggressive, and relentlessly competitive. As a captain he was a bloke you knew you could throw the ball to regardless of the game situation and be guaranteed a supreme effort. His dedication and perseverance in extracting every last ounce out of his body is quite remarkable. He has been a real warrior and deserves to look back on his career with a lot of satisfaction. I look forward to the next chapter of his life and career both in cricket and with his young family."
