17 December, 2023

The 2023 Veterans Cricket Australia - Women's National Championship brought together 15 teams from six states to compete in the second Annual Championship, held in Wollongong.

With around 250 players and supporters in attendance, the Championship featured several retired former Australian and State representatives. The teams competed across three divisions, demonstrating the depth of talent and passion for women's cricket among veterans. The tournament was not only about competitive cricket but also about camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Overall, the 2023 Veterans Cricket Australia - Women's National Championship was a resounding success, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment for women's cricket veterans. The tournament served as a testament to the enduring passion for cricket among women of all ages and skill levels.

ACA Involvement

Despite the challenging weather conditions, ACA staff demonstrated their dedication by assisting with the preparation and maintenance of multiple cricket grounds. They placed and removed covers early in the mornings and evenings, ensuring the pitches were ready for play. Their efforts extended beyond the grounds, as they also helped set up and dismantle marquees for each pitch.

The tournament presented a valuable opportunity for Mark Gregory and Daniel Meltser from the ACA to connect with members and identify potential new members who were unaware of their eligibility.

Additionally, it allowed Mark, the ACA's Transition & Past Player Development Manager, to interact with former players and offer guidance on their post-cricket careers.
