From 11-18 January 2019, players from the BBL, WBBL and Australian ODI team, will don rainbow coloured bat-grips, laces and wristbands, to help raise awareness for organ and tissue donations.
Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation was set up in memory of Zaidee Turner, who died suddenly at age seven from a burst blood vessel in her brain. Zaidee had been registered as an organ donor and her tissues and organs have helped save or improve the lives of many people.
One in five Australians on the transplant waiting list die before they get a chance to receive a transplant.
The Australian Cricketers’ Association and Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation have again joined forces to launch this year’s Zaidee’s Rainbow Round.
Managing Director of Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation, Allan Turner said:
"Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation is incredibly proud of the great support from the ACA and the players, helping raise awareness for organ and tissue donations.
"This will help drive awareness and education nationally via the game of cricket."
ACA CEO Alistair Nicholson added;
"For another year, we are delighted to partner with Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation."
"We get an excellent response from players during Zaidee's Rainbow Round. It's a testament of the players to see so many rainbow coloured grips, laces and wristbands throughout this period."
Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation has been the official charity partner of the ACA since 2013.
