Beth Mooney has been appointed to the ACA Board, replacing Kristen Beams who has stepped aside to focus on her roles with Cricket Tasmania and the ABC, and her young family.
ACA Chair Greg Dyer said the ACA was pleased to have someone of Mooney’s stature join the Board.
“Beth has been a crucial part of what is an historically outstanding team by any measure, and the insight and connections she brings will serve our members incredibly well for years to come.”
Dyer also paid tribute to the outgoing Beams who has served on the ACA Board since 2019.
“Kristen’s contribution to the ACA has been outstanding. Her insight has been of great benefit in what we have been able to achieve for the women’s game – but more than that, her intelligent input on the broader cricket landscape has been very valuable.”
Beams said she was thrilled to see Mooney named as her replacement, noting that it was a privileged position and an enormous opportunity to genuinely be a voice for all of the playing group.
“The ACA has meant so much to me, but it’s something I can only do whole-heartedly – and with a young child, full-time work with Cricket Tasmania, and continuing my work with the ABC, the time has come.”
Reflecting on her time at the ACA, Beams said she was proud of the continued professionalism of the women’s game – and importantly the support provided alongside that.
“The ACA has always done – and will continue to do – the right thing by the playing group. The players continue to be a partner in the game – and the game needs the players’ voice,” she said.
“I am also very proud of how we handled the most recent MOU. Having had the lived experience of the 2017 negotiations as a player, it was great that both organisations were able to move through that process behind closed doors and outside of the public’s glare.”
Mooney’s appointment adds to the vast player leadership experience on the Board, notably through Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, and Moises Henriques, as well as the recently retired Rachael Haynes and Trent Copeland.
