The Australian Cricketers’ Association Is Proud To Announce That Christina Matthews Has Been Elected President Of The Australian Cricketers' Association
Former Australian Wicket Keeper and former CEO of WA Cricket, Christina Matthews, has been elected President of the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) at a Board meeting held on Monday 9 December.
The appointment makes history as Matthews becomes the first female President of the ACA.
Matthews was recently elected as a Board Director at the ACA’s Annual General Meeting last month after filling a casual vacancy in October of this year. The role of President sits on the 9-person Board which is made up of ACA Chair, Greg Dyer and its seven Directors; Trent Copeland, Moises Henriques, Usman Khawaja, Beth Mooney, Lisa Sthalekar, Janet Torney and Darren Tucker.
“Throughout both my playing and administrative careers, I have always been very conscious of what players need to be successful. Coming in to be a part of a great Association, to continue building the services provided to current and past players is very exciting,” Matthews said.
With an impressive twenty-plus year career in administration, most recently as CEO of WA Cricket, Matthews will continue to provide a strong connection to cricket in the West and bring a great deal of experience to the role of President.
Matthews long-standing experience in administration is matched by her on-field experience as Australia's most-capped female Test cricketer, having played in 20 Test matches and 47 One Day International matches. Christina Matthews is a life member of the ACA.
She said, “To be a part of the leadership group of the ACA is a great honour for me and allows me to continue doing the work I enjoy so much.”
ACA Chair Greg Dyer said, "We are delighted that Christina has been elected to the position of ACA President. She brings significant expertise and experience along with her genuine love of the game to this role and I look forward to continuing our work together."
