Elyse Villani named WNCL All*Star skipper for third straight year

An interstate move south in the off-season ultimately led to Elyse Villani realising her title ambition and it also didn't stop her having another prolific season, as she was voted by her peers to lead the ACA's All*Star Team for a third-straight year since the concept began.

The top order batter amassed 356 runs throughout the season to finish second on the competition's runs table behind only South Australia's Courtney Webb, including an unbeaten 111* in the season-decider at Blundstone Arena last weekend.

Villani's first-time title-winning teammates who were also selected by their peers for their standout season's were wicketkeeper-bat Rachel Priest, medium-pacer Sarah Coyte and leg-spinner Maisy Gibson.

Selected from runners-up South Australia, alongisde leading run-scorer Webb were opening bat Bridget Patterson and all-rounder Ellie Falconer.

Selected from the nation's capital were Katie Mack at the top of the order and bowling all-rounder Zoe Cooke - who earns her first ACA All*Star cap.

Batter Mikayla Hinkley (Queensland) and Sam Bates (Victoria) complete the XI with Rachael Haynes' 238 runs in just three matches outside of international commitments this summer earning her selection as the side's 12th player.
