The sky is the limit for two bright young stars of Victorian cricket, Cam McClure and Mitch Perry

The sky is the limit for two bright young stars of Victorian cricket, Cam McClure and Mitch Perry.

Teammates (Victoria), rivals (Cam plays for the Melbourne Stars and Mitch with the Melbourne Renegades), and great mates, the two are now business partners.

‘Fortuna St’ is the business venture that the two young pace bowlers are taking on together, the streetwear venture something they’ve wanted to do for a while.

One night earlier this year, while sitting at home looking at hoodies, Cam sent a message to Mitch: “We’re spending so much money on these hoodies, you know what? We should make our own.".

From there the next couple of weeks were spent thinking of names and slogans, and from there they landed with the name Fortuna St, and the slogan ‘for the luck of the misfortunate’.

Fortuna is Italian for Luck, hence the boys wanted to tie in four leaf clovers, and from there Perry described it as “a massive spiral at the start” that then brought in pots of gold and leprechauns, which you will find on their hoodies and tees.

McClure and Perry are hosting a launch event for their brand, which will be the first time anyone can get their hands on the Fortuna St range. This event will take place on Friday the 24th of November at the Citi Power center, and they’d love for anyone and everyone to get down and support their launch.

The boys have been working with Zip Digital on the business side of the project, as they discovered it’s not as simple as “just getting a hoodie and a tee together”.

“I think we’re doing all the right stuff, it’s just getting it off the ground now and getting it selling,” says Mitch.

When asked about balancing the project with cricket, Mitch says it was easy at the start, but stagnated a bit as they were both doing different things.

“But it’s a good thing to have, something else to worry about rather than cricket.”

For Cam and Mitch, it is more of a passion project.

“It would be good to see people wearing it out, it’s not all about the money”, says Cam.

“A cool thing would be in a couple of years' time, we’ve got the brand rolling and we’re sitting having a coffee on Fitzroy St and there’s a complete stranger walking down the street wearing our hoodie or tee, that would be pretty sick,” adds Mitch.

You can find the brand on Instagram @fortuna.st, where you can keep up with all updates from Mitch and Cam, and look out for them on TikTok too.
