New SSSM Pathway Program for our Female Members – Applications Open

14 March, 2023

The ACA is excited to launch our inaugural SSSM Pathway Program for our Female Members working in or aspiring towards an SSSM role within cricket. We have collaborated with Cricket Australia and our State Associations to design a flexible program designed to expose Female Members to all facets of their desired SSSM role. Our hope is that this program assists with the development of our Female Members within the SSSM space and increases the visibility of the incredible women who are already impacting our game through an SSSM role.

What is the program:

  • The ACA will fund up to 6 paid mentoring opportunities for Female Members who are appropriately qualified in S&C, Physio, or Medicine.
  • State Associations will provide locally based Mentors to guide successful applicants throughout a 3-month program where you will be exposed to all aspects of the job.
  • The program will involve a relevant special project within the State environment, create networking opportunities and potentially lead to an ongoing job in a High-Performance setting.

Do you get paid:

  • Yes. Members will be paid the award wage for their role for 7hrs per week over a three-month period commencing in June and finishing in August.
  • Existing State employees who are Members can apply but hours would need to be on top of what they are already employed to complete.

Why this program now:

  • In 2022 the ACA was successful in being awarded a National Careers Institute Partnership Grant which has been utilised to create this SSSM Mentoring Program to enhance pathways for females entering non-traditional roles within cricket.
  • It was clear that despite having a significant number of current and past female players studying degrees or post-graduate degrees in S&C and Physio, few Members have then moved back into cricket in this capacity. We understand the value our Members with SSSM qualifications can have within a High-Performance setting, so we want to create a sustainable pathway and bespoke opportunities to keep females with SSSM aspirations within the game.
