Vale Robin Wood and Michael Fitchett

The ACA has been saddened by the recent of passing of two Victorian members Robin Wood and Michael Fitchett.

Michael Fitchett, born 30 November 1927, represented Victoria for three seasons, featuring regularly for his state across the 1951/52 season. He scored his only first-class hundred against Western Australia in Perth that season. From 13 first-class games, he scored 589 runs at 32.72 and took nine wickets. Fitchett also played 30 games of AFL/VFL football for Hawthorn from 1950-52.

Robin Wood represented Victoria in the 1950s, playing in the 1956 two-week carnival/tournament. Robin played for the Sunshine Cricket Club collecting a hat-trick against Clarendon in 1957, taking 6/19 in the match. Robin’s Victorian cap number was 84. She later become a Victorian Selector and a cricket administrator. Robin was highly revered among her peers.
