ACA Premier Cricket Program launches for 2021-22

8 July, 2021

Applications for the 2021-22 ACA Premier Cricket Program are due by Saturday 31 July.

Entering its seventh year, Australia’s professional cricketers invested more than $5.7 million into Premier Cricket since the Program launched in 2015.

This year’s commitment will once again see more than $1 million invested towards supporting Members and Premier Cricket around the country. Funding allows clubs to engage ACA members in playing and/or coaching roles to identify, instruct and inspire talent around Australia.

The Premier Cricket Program aims to help narrow the gap between Premier Cricket and domestic cricket, creating additional opportunities for clubs to grow a sustainable program that ensures Premier Cricket remains the lifeblood of Australian Cricket.

Having been out of the game for two years, I was craving a competitive environment and also felt I could pass on some of the knowledge I have built over my career.

Season 2021-22

Funding for the Program remains consistent with the factors and guidelines used in previous years, including:

  • the number of teams within the club,
  • the number of games played,
  • time committed to Premier Cricket; and
  • whether the 1st Grade side provides the last step in the pathway to domestic cricket.

As such, allocations for clubs in 2021-22 will be:

  • $6,500 for male Premier Cricket clubs,
  • $6,500 for female Premier Cricket clubs with their 1st XI playing in the 1st XI competition; and
  • $13,000 for fully integrated Premier Cricket clubs

The maximum an ACA member can receive through the Premier Cricket Program in 2021-22 is $7,500.

John Hastings, who took on a coaching role at Frankston Cricket Club says that the process to become involved was very simple and that it benefited both him and the club.

“Having been out of the game for two years, I was craving a competitive environment and also felt I could pass on some of the knowledge I have built over my career.”
