Players vote for their BBL All Star Team

The 2019-20 player-voted BBL Team of the Year has been released this week, with Glenn Maxwell selected as Captain after another strong campaign for the Melbourne Stars.

The player-voted team featured five top order batters, signalling the importance of the Power Play with both bat and ball.

Despite only playing nine games due to Australian duty, Aaron Finch (363 runs @ 45.38) was selected at the top of the order alongside competition leading run-scorer Marcus Stoinis (705 runs @ 54.23).

Sydney Thunder star Alex Hales' season (576 runs @ 38.4) was rewarded, as was emerging keeper-batter Josh Phillipe (487 runs @ 37.46, 9 dismissals).

While Maxwell (398 runs @ 39.8) and Strikers batsman Jon Wells (478 runs @ 68.28) were selected in the crucial middle order positions.

Matthew Wade was placed at number seven, after 351 runs from just nine matches.

Rashid Khan (19 wickets) made his return to the ACA Team of the Year, the players' spinning preference over 12th man Adam Zampa (20 wickets), who enjoyed an outstanding season for the Stars.

Competition leading wicket-taker Daniel Sams (30 wickets) was overwhelming selected by the players, alongside Peter Siddle (19 wickets) and breakout Melbourne Star Haris Rauf (20 wickets).

Rauf's inclusion capped off another strong season for the Melbourne Stars, who had four players selected; while the Strikers (three), Thunder (two), Renegades (one) and Hurricanes (one) all had players picked.
